Cary, I thought it would be interesting for the thread to know that we have debated the Israel/Palestine war for about a year. Perhaps the only thing we agree on is that there cant be peace until an overwhelming number of Palestinians finally, if only reluctantly, accept the existence of Israel. I thought we reached this point in 1999 but Palestinian leadership was too timid to accept the fair deal offered perhaps because of what would be said in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and Syria. And then the disastrous intifada 2 where thousands of innocents die on both sides because of the reintroduction of terrorism just at the moment peace could have been achieved. So the problem to me does lie in those above regimes who gain legitimacy by scapegoating israel and perhaps Bush is right to take out their leaderships one by one. Perhaps that more than any negotiatons can lead to peace in the whole of the middle east over a reasonable period. Just a thought i had drinking my morning coffee and trying not to get too upset with Sarmad. Mike
