I agree, that very likely the region would have been far better for all if that had happened.

I don't. I think There is nothing but misery for Iraq's people whether the US attacks or not. If things stay as they are, then slow strangulation. If attack, lots of death from bombs and later civil war.

There were NO "Palestinians" in 1947. There were Arabs who lived in Palestine. ARABS did not accept the UN mandate. ARABS attacked the new Jewish state in 1948. ARABS caused the wars in 1967 and 1973. ARABS made the PLO, a terrorist organization, the "sole legitimate representatives of the Palestinian people". ARABS keep refugees from Palestine in camps for 54 years because they hope to use them to destroy Israel. And, today, ARABS rally around Saddam and lecture the President of the US on Middle East "peace".
