Hi Brian,

With Fords fiasco over Firestone tires (which I believe was the result of the Expeditions tippiness),the legislation recently enacted requires the use of tire inflation monitors.

These systems will advise drivers of an inflation pressure loss - much like the low oil pressure light.Buick Lesabre has had this for years. The systems are so accurate that the light usually comes on when the tires are rotated. It catches the difference in tire pressure from the front tires which have now bben rotated to the back.

Tire manufacturers wanted minimum pressures to be part of the legislation but lawmakers didn't go there.

Firestone built the tires for Ford with a minimum tire pressure recomendation.Ford ,for an unknown reason, told customers to keep the tires inflated 3 poinds lower than Firestone recommended as a minimum. In warm weather markets,The tire selfdestructed from the inside out,if inflation pressure dropped from a critical low level to begin with.

Let's face it when is the last time you carried a tire gauge in your car.Gas stations seldom ever have hoses.Tire pressure checks are a discipline of the past.

Future mandated tire pressure monitoring systems are another axample of a relentless increased use of IC in our future.

Technology's expansion into our future is relentless and exponential.gg

Bob
