Re : SI doing pop up ads -- I am seeing none. I use Netscape 4.74. Are you using that dickless Microsoft product, by any chance ?

(I have no idea if this might explain it ...)

there is a way.
download and install Opera (http://www.opera.com) and then go to file > quick preferences > refuse pop-up windows.
voila.
for this and many other reasons, you'll never miss MS Internet Explorer, believe me.
