The situation in Iraq cannot be stable till inspections are de rigeur and sanctions disappear.... along with Hussein, his family, the government.... and then it will all become as stable as Yugoslavia in the post-Commie era. ;^)

Many forget the latter point being the reason Saddaam was left in place in 91. And the internal divisions in Iraq will be near impossible to resolve if we defeat him, unless the Arab 'allies' are on board.

Otherwise, America's imperial age will be underway, requiring a constant troop presence for decades.
