The case made so far is "underwhelming"...One has to ask WHY?? It is as if the Administration really in fact, doesn't want to make the case right now. Are we waiting to get all materials and forces in place? Or for more information? Or to get allies fully informed? Or to get inoculation materials made?

We can hope, so, particularly those of us who look at the logistics (what we can see of them), the calendar, the elections schedule, etc. Then we say, it's not really time for the full press argument yet. But, on the other hand, the administration may simply not have its act together.

Perhaps a complete review of Bakers transcript~actual remarks would be a start. Maybe someone has a link.

The Baker article in the NYT was posted by LindyBill in #reply-17916054

Perhaps some of the matters that might provide the justification are so sensitive that revealing them might jeopardize other interests, such as the protection of sources or the means and methods for gathering intelligence.

At some point, the justification will be revealed. I really don't believe anyone in W's administration is crazy enough to act like a cowboy in this sensitive area. Because W's presidency rides on the success of his Iraq initiative, I really do think that the risk calculus has been examined with a lot of care. If it hasn't, and things turn out badly, then it's the end of W as a politician.

This is the reason I am confident that justification exists and that the American voters will find it acceptable.
