Since there is not much to look at tonight except a "sea of
red" after todays action - actually the last 4 days action,
I thought I would post a little something different. The
very small table below takes bit and pieces from data that
have been posted in various places and combines them into a
"look see" at AMAT. I did it for AMAT because the quarterly
backlog numbers you post on your charts is so readily
available. That allows a "bookings" number to be computed
using the stated revenue number for each quarter.

AMAT
Latest 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr 5th Qtr
Qtr Back Back Back Back
REV 1460 1157 1001 1265 1576
Net Inc 115 52 -46 -82 115
EPS 0.07 0.03 -0.03 -0.05 0.07
Bookings 1840 1953 1679 1465
Backlog 3300 3110 2680 2730 2650
Qtr Date 7/31/02 4/30/02 1/31/02 10/31/02 7/31/01
St Price 14.87 24.32 21.83 17.06 22.93

There are several interesting comparisons that can be made -
to each his own - but I would like to point out one that is
obvious to me - ie - the stock price is roughly inversely
proportional to how well the company is doing in coming out
of the downturn.
