I've kind of gotten busy so I'm going to cutback on the useless debate at SI. However, I would recommend you look at "The Great Reckoning" by Davidson & Rees-Mogg, particularly the chapter about "Islam, the new Marxism", but the entire book is worth the investment in time to read.

This book, written about 1990, accurately foretold the difficulties we faced with terrorism, and how we were ill-equipped to fight terrorist. How terrorists were ideally suited for taking advantage of American "civil liberties" to cause us harm. And in particular, the difficulty we would have in fighting a war against terrorism (as in Afghanistan) with our weapons systems -- which I think everyone can agree that we are doing (and some of us think we're doing a remarkable job at, given the circumstances).

Fundamentalist Islam IS literally the new Marxism. In the Cold War, we were fighting a readily identifiable foe with a huge military. Today, we are literally engaged in a religious war, left to try and swat flies with 2000 pound bombs.

So, if our president has difficulty in convincing some people of the importance of the war, I can sit tight. If the war is difficult because it isn't the kind of war we're used to, I'll be patient.

The ill-informed liberals, as well as the Eagleburgers, who are either politically motivated or too short-sighted to comprehend what is happening, will be different people the day after the NEXT Twin Towers bombing. They will be hurling all manner of insults at the current leadership, for political gain or whatever motivates them.

There isn't any end to it. I can say only that we at least have leadership in whom we can trust. In the meantime, I've got a system to get finished by year end, so I'm going to cut back a little; that should provide one fewer voice for you & ted to disagree with...
