Neat information...thanks. I remember my dad and older brothers sticking their arms into the cow's uterus to extract the calf. Boy, it wasn't easy. Lots of panting and heavy breathing. I vaguely remember that I helped to pull it out, too, but memory is a sticky thing...

How large is a mare's embryo? Are you talking a week or two after conception?

It really is quite stupid to let the vet decide which embryo to pinch off because 99% of the time the mare will kick one of the embryos out naturally.
