What do you think motivated the WTC attack? Nausea. Vertigo. The desire for glory. Revulsion with, and fear of, modern Western (read: American) culture. All perfectly normal reactions, shanghaied into something morally indefensible. I would no sooner teach my children what motivated Al Qaida than I would teach them what motivates rapists or murderers or corporate defrauders. Some things are just wrong, and don't require, or deserve, understanding.
