bmw: The power thing will be overcome by new technologies. Presently the cu solution is reducing power requirements and there are other leading edge technologies that promise to take power requirements lower even at increasing speeds. Moore's Law will remain intact with no loss of performance vis a vis power and other concerns. I believe we are just at the beginning of this whole digital revolution. I believe the next killer apps. will involve convergence and therefore will need the processing power. JFD

Using the AMD definition of a product introduction -- shipping engineering samples -- Intel "introduced" the 3GHz P4 some time ago. It is likely that systems with 3GHz P4 processors will be on sale before the systems with the 2GHz AthWipe processor that AMD introduces last week.
