The fundamental reason, in my opinion, that the governments of Arab nations don't want us to attack Iraq is that they don't really want a western style democracy anywhere in the Middle East. It will make them look bad. They maintain power by oppression, and in the case of Saudi Arabia, bribery. They are corrupt.

They know Saddam is a threat to them, but the threat of democracy is worse.

What do you think the likelihood of a functioning western-style democracy emerging in Iraq is? Pretty remote, in my view. I suspect that the other Arab states have more immediate concerns.
