re: Samsung STN-LCD Color Displays for Nokia

>> Korea Samsung SDI Pursuing Nokia $230 Million Supply Pact-Report

Dow Jones Business News

South Korea's Samsung SDI Co. is pursuing a $230 million deal with mobile phone manufacturer Nokia Corp. to supply color liquid crystal displays, reports on-line news provider Edaily.

Samsung SDI is in talks to provide 15 million super twisted nematic LCDs, or STN-LCDs, to Nokia and will be negotiating for a supply contract at the end of this month at Nokia headquarters, Edaily reports, citing unidentified industry sources.

Samsung SDI hopes to provide the Finnish company with the color STN products next year.

Company officials at Samsung SDI declined to comment, saying they aren't aware of such talks.

Officials at Nokia weren't immediately available for comment.

Originally, Samsung SDI was expected to supply Nokia with 35 million black and white STN products this year, but a supply deal for the more expensive color products would boost their sales and profits considerably, Edaily said. <<
