Again we are in agreement to the first order of approximation. I am not fond of step functions, those that change suddenly between for example $999,999.99 and $10,000,000 . It gets all these hotheads to consentrate on the marginal tax rate for that one cent and gloss over the big picture. I can't count the number of people who argue that there is a 90% tax rate because the step function rate between one dollar amount and the next dollar is a 90 cent incease.
