I accept that that definition fits me, and I'm glad you think so well of me.

Or perhaps you meant these definitions, also from the OED:

"A term of endearment or familiarity, orig, applied to either sex: sweetheart, darling. Later applied to men only, implying friendly admiration: good friend, fine fellow, 'gallant.' Often prefixed as a sort of title to the name or designation of the person addressed, as in Shaks. 'bully Bottom,' 'bully doctor.'"

I'm not sure I like your thinking of me as your sweetheart, but I will accept your friendly admiration.
