I agree with you that the death penalty is a mess. When I was a kid in the good old days (ahem) ... cop killers went to the chair in a matter of months following their conviction. Now there was a system that worked. A powerful object lesson to all would-be killers. Perhaps that it is the kind of reform that you have in mind also? (As Minister of Food in our new administration you won't have to bother your pretty little head about these matters. Nor will I, as I will be busy fudg, er, keeping the books).
