It is possible that we are not seeing eye to eye on this case. No, I don't think that's the case. I'm not thinking about this particular cop killer. I was just rolling around in my brain the notion of whether and why criminals, in the abstract, might make legal name changes, which is something I had never before heard of. The best reason I can come up with is that they might want to be good citizens going forward. Can you think of any other plausible scenario.
