I think you big city dwellers need a bit of relief from a small town Sheriff's Log.

So from time to time I'll post enticing tidbits here.

To we rubes, the Sheriff's Log is big time stuff.

Exerpts:

"A dinghy which had drifted around Garrison Bay for 12 hours was found by an Anacortes man."

I mean, that's news you've just GOT to have.

or: "A 14-year-old Marysville boy was arrested after he was pulled over for driving a vehicle without a valid operator’s license and taking a vehicle without permission."

You just know there's something behind this story.

Now the deputy who suggested this must be new to the islands. Nobody who knows a thing about Lopez would make any such sugggestion.

"A 67-year-old Lopez Island woman reported two gas cans missing from her shed. Deputies suggested closing the shed door and locking it."

Locks on Lopez? Heaven forfend. 90% of the people who've lived on Lopez for more than 20 years still leave their keys in their cars. After all, what can you DO with a stolen car on a small island??

And, finally::

"Someone took rocks from a ninety year old retaining wall from an Eastsound home owned by a New Jersey man."

Serves them damn East Coasters right. We locals can make a whole lot better use of those rocks than he can.
