After deadlocked on some old patents, russian ideas, even Viterbi skipped ship.
(not to forget the neanderthalian idea on medium fast power control for the kids and wife in the backseat
of the backcave)

But what else could have made a globally and mutually agreed upon standard but
the promise of free US patented money in the future. (that is, during a bubbly-wobbly-bubble, during
recessions it must be free money in the hand, dividends or other direct fees)

Btw, as always, WAP+GPRS is great, and voice is till a pain in terms of unexpected latencies,
one can even think a severely delayed speaker is kind of border line demented.
