The group dynamics on SI would, as has been noted before, make fertile ground for a doctoral thesis in applied sociology. I'm surprised nobody has written it yet -- it's a natural.

You get wonderful dynamics, like person A getting irate because person B won't honor a request by person C that B stop posting to C, but then when A gets a request from B not to post to them, A demands the right to keep posting to whomever they want to. Not that double standards are any surprise to anybody, but they usually aren't that blatant.
