J.P. Morgan puts SOX on 'worst groups' list ($SOX) By Tomi Kilgore
Johannes Reiss, technical analyst at J.P. Morgan, has put the Phlx Semiconductor Index ($SOX) back on his "worst groups" list this week, saying the recent sell-off signaled the resumption of its previous downtrend. The chip sector tracker is currently up 0.1 percent at 304.04, but had lost 14 percent over the previous 4 trading sessions. It is currently sitting 53 percent below its March 8 intraday high, and just 7 percent above its Aug. 6 low. "The index should make new lows and move into the 230 support area," Krauss said in a note to clients. That would represent a 24 percent decline from its current level. The last time the SOX was that low was in October 1998
