I had fun with a telephone solicitor tonight. He asked if I would be interested in "such and such" and I said "no thank you". He then said "well would you prefer such and such?". I said "I would prefer not to spend money right now".

But I imagine that I am the exception who is tightening the spending reins.

<<every time i shop in a national chain store...(sports authority, target, etc) i'm offered a discount if i will please just take one of their charge cards...>>

The problem with that is it shows up on your bureau report as another open line of credit. Once money starts to become harder to get all those stray cards with even a zero balance can be a problem. ALWAYS remember to CLOSE your credit accounts when you no longer use them.
