So far the premarket does not look too bad. Maybe we drop a bit and then rally? Naturally we got another downgrade of the semi equips this morning after the NVLS mid quarter report.

From Briefing.com: 7:39AM Semi Equips NVLS, AMAT, KLAC, LRCX cut Neutral from Buy at Merrill Lynch

7:37AM Nokia makes headway in mobile software (NOK) 13.42: The Financial Times reports that NOK has signed up Samsung as a new customer for its Series 60 smartphone platform; after the deal, NOK and software customers SI, Samsung, and Matsushita have a combined mobile phone mkt share of around 60%, giving NOK momentum in its battle to stop MSFT making headway in the mobile software arena.

7:37AM BellSouth trims 2002 outlook (BLS) 24.25: After the close, co trimmed 2002 guidance. Now sees EPS of $2.06-$2.13, representing a reduction of 7 cents per share from prior guidance. Current Multex consensus is $2.13. BLS cites continued softness in wireless revenues, a recently announced restructuring charge for Cingular Wireless, and continued weakening of economic indicators in BellSouth's domestic biz.
