That's what Prechter points out in his book Conquer the Crash.

He points out that in 1929-32 silver followed all the other stox and commodities down to the bottom.

Gold did not, but that may be because the govt fixed the price of gold at ~$21 bucks/oz. ;)

He does say that he would still have some just in case he's wrong and as a safety net against the rare chance of societal turmoil, but he believes that history will repeat and that precious metals will bottom with everything else.

If you guys already discussed all this, then sorry.
