Each individual accident, yes, but the system as a whole is a choice and could be improved considerably. For a couple of thousand dollars extra per car distance control and traffic guidance systems could be implemented. But consumers prefer to chase more horsepower instead of safety.

If we like freedom, we must put up with the result of free choices.

In any case, I just don't like the argument of attacking Iraq due to "moral clarity". Cheney should just drop the pretense and say that it fits the "Imperium Americanum" - a headline in the latest SPIEGEL edition:

I wouldn't mind that theme - better an Imperium Americanum than one of Russian or Chinese origin. The next UN attempt has to be postponed for another 300 years.
