they can find no evidence

That's not what Amnesty International said. They said that they had hearsay evidence - which means that people told them that it happened - but no hard evidence - which means that they were not shown any physical evidence. BTW, they misused the word "hearsay". The proper term is "eyewitness testimony."

It's like rape. If nobody saw it and the woman did not go to the doctor immediately to get a vaginal swab, without physical evidence it's hard to prove, but that doesn't mean it did not happen.

I printed out several eyewitness accounts, and topped it off with the report that Iraq was returning incubators to Kuwait.

But I think I understand where you are coming from. You'd rather believe that people are lying to you for base reasons than accept the fact that things get fuzzy because life is complicated and people have complex motivations. You like it simple.

Easy explanations. Bush I and Cheney deliberately fomented war with Iraq in 1990 because they wanted to get their mitts on Iraqi oil and strangle the Iraqi people. They provoked Saddam into attacking Kuwait and paid the Kuwaitis to lie about Iraqi soldiers removing oxygen tanks from hospitals to send to the front ranks to save their own soldiers. Iraqis would never remove oxygen tanks from hospitals because they are great humanitarians.

I think it must be wonderful to have such easy answers.

And then you say, you can't understand why people embellish stories. Wow.
