We spent an evening this week in the city with the friends who live in Battery Park City, which overlooks Ground Zero (I sent you her account of their experience trying to flee in the Black Cloud) and they are convinced there will be a new attempt this year on the 11th. They are staying there, though. With water and iodine pills and food. They're different people than they were. It's weird. They're both in therapy. I think maybe they should have moved. They are on the 32nd floor and look down at the blank space where the twin towers used to be all day. It fills one with a kind of blind hatred to see that site.
