The number of victims is always key to seeing the truth of the process or events as they occurred and to put what occurred into a proper perspective.

Narrow simple minded shallow thinkers will only think of stuff like this.
"So if it could be established with 100% certainty the victims were say 4000 instead of some number 10X or 20X that the Inquisition
becomes just a myth. Personally I don't think quibbling about the numbers is important. If the number of victims was 80,000, it was a
dark period in the history of western civilization. But if the number were 4,000 - well, it was still a dark period ..."

It was a dark period, but the darkness had nothing to do with the Catholic Church establishing a process of defining and defending true Catholic beliefs. Out that darkness came Western Civilization and the jewel of justice known as America. I see a jewel coming out of the good of the Church in it's fundamental teachings of tolerance in overcoming the evil in men.

The small numbers in fact vs the publicly held false numbers make plausible severing the link to the Church myth.

This started as my attempt to get you to see the flaws in your thinking in this post. #reply-17925844

In that you were posting to a brain dead individual, that should have been my first clue that a dialog was pointless.

I'm not familiar with what Luther wrote. But I do know the truth of the Catholic church. I attempted to impart some knowledge in a void of ignorance. That appears to be pointless.
