That this isn't a "world" of a certain sort (in which, for particular stretches of time, some of us, for personal, life-logic reasons, spent most of our "social life"- time) is a pedestrian shibboleth designed to allow you to do certain things you like to do here. I think you begin with a little thing in your id and build rationalizations to allow you to do them.

I think that thing in your id isn't so little, sometimes.

Could someone slander "Jack Handy?" I think not. Someone could threaten to find the identity behind the insult to Jack Handy and do something to that person, but that's kinda weird. Slander of the 3 Stooges by saying "The 3 Stooges are real idiots" (in their role, not their personal life) makes more sense because at least they are closer to their identity (Larry, Moe)... but even that is a stretch.
