U.S. airpower, after all, forced the collapse of both the Afghan and Yugoslav militaries.

This is a bit of a stretch. Serbia bowed because Yeltsin threatened to pull support. Once a cease to hostilities was declared, columns of Serb troops rolled out of Kosovo, untouched and in good spirits. We seemed to have a good effect on wooden decoys though.

And the Taliban didn't collapse because of airpower, they collapsed because of airpower supplemented ground forces. The Iraqis didn't run when pounded by US airpower in the Gulf War, they ran after being confronted by US ground forces.

We shouldn't get in the habit of believing airpower alone will win the day. It still takes ground troops to take and secure territory.
