Ben, the main purpose of the 3GPP jamborees is the same as the Johannesburg environmental jamboree. It is to have a great big convention, involving travel, hotels, yummy meals and fine wine, meet guys and girls from around the world and get out of the cubicle for a while. The main outcome of the jamboree will be to infect a few more people with AIDS - that's the message they'll take home from Joburg, to be passed on to the naive and gullible. There will also be a lot of hot air released into the atmosphere and the jet engines carrying the delegates will emit more CO2 than a megahorde of impoverished Indians struggling to live on a minuscule fraction of the loot the free-loaders will burn through during the festivities in Joburg.
