Hi Tim,

Sounds like you had an enviable time. I'm embarrassed to say I never heard of any of those folks, which is just like the blues: the best is done by the people you never hear about.

How was "road to Perdition"? I read that Tom Hanks did a really great job. We're so far from the mainstream here that I'll have to wait around till it's on video to see it.

We went to Folk Life in Seattle in May, the main attraction of this Festival being Bluegrass Hill, where dozens of bluegrass musicians from all over the U.S. gather and form impromptu bands. Some of the musicians are absolutely wonderful, and nobody's heard of them. Unfortunately, this year, which was the first time we'd been able to go, there was construction going on and Bluegrass Hill had been bulldozed. My disappointed 6 year old grandson saw the site and said, "They ought to call it Bluegrass Crevasse." The musicians were shifted to another, less idyllic spot, and as if that weren't enough, the Yahoo Weather Forecast had said for days, including the day before the opening day of the festival, that it was going to be pouring rain. The weather was, miraculously, lovely, but dozens of musicians had decided not to make the trip.

It was great anyway.
