Would your first priority to be to destroy these people and everyone associated with them, or would your first priority be to refight a battle your father lost, or enrich your friends? CB, I'm just not terribly interested in Bush's motives about all this--whether it's any of the above. So I have no serious thoughts. I am a bit perplexed by the general screw up they've made over the past few months, a period which they entered with a good bit of support for an Iraq invasion, support which I presently consider misguided. And have managed to dribble away a good bit. Now they find themselves with demands from all sides to explain themselves. Not restate their intentions but explain why those are their intentions. We'll all just have to wait and see whether they do that well or not. And in a way that, should they take the country to war, has its support. And then there are the Democrats who seem to have fallen asleep. Or, if Rascal is right, being cagey. We'll see.

Assume that you are the leader of the most powerful country on earth, and that certain groups of people are attempting to destroy the city in which you and your wife live, as they attempt to kill you both, and all your business associates. If this is applied to Iraq, it assumes what has yet to be demonstrated: that Iraq is actively trying to destroy us. I realize that some people want us to believe this. I don't think they have made their case in any terribly convincing fashion.
