Uh, just a little practical note to inject here. You object that X wasn't crystal clear about her warning to you. You now claim she should have been crystal clear instead of making you interpret or read her mind. But it appears that nowhere in your PM did you specifically ask her to keep it confidential -- at least if you did, you haven't mentioned it here, and if you had said that specifically I assume you would have mentioned it. So your objection really is that she didn't interpret or read your mind. I doubt you'll see the disconnect here. But maybe some others will. Not that I'm taking sides. I feel I'm just acting in the role of a neutral commentator noting when one side isn't playing by the same rules it expects the other side to play by.
