Euro semi sales continue to rise in July

European semiconductor sales grew slightly in July according to the latest statistics
from World Semiconductor Trade Statistics and the European Electronic Component
Manufacturers Association.

Market data based on a
three-month moving average
shows that the European market
grew 0.5% from June to $2.16bn
as the worldwide market grew
2.9% to $11.35bn. Compared
with July 2001, the worldwide
market grew by 8%.

The biggest growth came from
Japan as the semiconductor
recovery there continued. The
Japanese market grew by 8.5%
to $2.66bn after growing 5.4% in
June. Asia-Pacific saw its
semiconductor market increase
by 2.3% month-on-month to
$4.26bn.Like Europe, the
American region recovered from
the June falls in sales, growing
0.5% month-on-month to $2.60bn.
