Since Colin Powell blew the Israel thing, his policy input days are over. Since he made his stars serving Republican presidents, he will run cover where Bush and Rice determine it is needed-and he won't resign before he's told to. Look for him to leave right after the Bush landslide in November, 2004, with Condi Rice taking the SecState chair. The future of American foreign policy is closer ties with Russia. Rice is an expert, Powell is (as usual) completely unqualified.

History has a parallel, of course. Bill Rogers ran cover, while Nixon and Kissinger isolated Hanoi and established relations with China-thus completely turning around the Cold War, which had been so badly botched by Johnson. Then Bill Rogers retired to obscurity, and Kissinger (another expert on Russia, as well as the Cold War) became SecState...

Isn't it interesting that it's the Bush Oil triumverate that is in favor of these wars where oil is King? ( and plentiful ).

Russia is not on our side as far as the Iraq invasion is concerned...........Rice maybe an expert in the oil preserves in southern Russia but I have a feeling the Russians already know the game plan and they will not be amused. Development of the Russian oil fields will put the area in the drivers seat. The US oil companies need the pipeline in Afghanistan and we need to control it before the oil gets sold to China or India. It is no wonder that the US oil companies are looking to control various Middle Eastern oil fields under the guise of a war on terrorism. This is the agenda of big oil and too many Americans are being made fools of by buying the spin doctor's BS.
