Len, by the same token we shouldn't try to tell Al Qaeda that they cannot aquire nukes... After all, they are free people, who are we to command them... They aren't even our citizens, many are Saudis, it seems. Why should they listen to us, right? If they do something wrong with those nukes, we can always bring them to Belgium, to their court, or file a complaint with the UN.

That was the deal from the last time.

simple deal ..

we can look all we want
he can't have any of those weapons
he gets to stay alive.

He agreed then violated the deal .. he forfeits his life.

I would agree with the initial intent of your question, but that's as far as it goes... the Iraqi leader has already announced publicly that he wants to murder as many Americans as possible and that he will use nuclear weapons if he has to... your remarkable passivist position is much the same as those European in the 30's who allowed Hitler to grow in power... do you think he'll not want to murder you and your family also? Snap out of it, you are not exempt...
