Update............

an amazing study of how a corporation isn't prepared to deal with:

1. the little things, and

2. the consequences of their own outrageous behavior.

I subsequently received another statement, showing that the overlimit fee was credited to the account. The trouble? It had obviously been on the account for a portion of the month, and it was therefore charged again for August. I therefore called again in September. My notes say that I talked with "Judy Warren Springfield" (that may be a name and a location??). She assured me that the account would be OK within 72 hours. Indeed, a credit was made. However, the overlimit fee was charged again for October. I therefore called AGAIN on 11/24. I spoke with Joanne Young, who forwarded the issue to her supervisor Debby Butts (am I the butt of a joke??).

The account was zeroed out again. I have ignored the issue subsequently, having been assured that the account is closed, and that the charges will not have an effect on my credit rating.

I just received my March statement. The balance is now up to $117.05, showing an overlimit fee of $29, a late fee of $29, and a finance charge of $0.71 for the month.

The original offense was sufficient to put off most consumers. The subsequent events prove that the company is managed by those who can't assure operational efficiency at the level of customer service.
