Pakistan is a major source of intelligence for the US, as well as a strong supporter of US interests in the region. They are a key ally who have remained so even when we were losing influence in the middle east region during the mid-late 90's and the GCC was gaining influence.

Pakistan is one of the few Islamic countries left who refer to the US as a friend. To create a wedge between the US and Pakistan would open Pakistan to attack from India as well as a major blow to the war on Al Qaida.

The House of Saud does not want a regime change in Iraq that's why you have seen more Palestinian attacks on Israelis when we are preparing for war with Iraq.

I looked back at the time President Clinton was ramping up for war against Hussein. It was uncanny. The same exact actions occurred then as it has recently. It seems more money flows to the Palestinian cause about that time and more Israelis die causing the US to lose sight of an Iraqi attack and instead concentrate on putting out that fire.

It was an effective tool until President Bush's administration caught on to the twisted game. He chose to do nothing, now there is talk of peace in that region.
