The problem with your point of view is that there is no current imperial executive beholden to insiders Corporate cronyism selects politicians at the candidate leve, even before the fiasco of the last presidential election. If Gore had won, we'd still have incipient fascism and controlled media, but just a wee bit more protest. Simon, the GOP candidate for Calif. governor, was selected by Bush & Co. over Reardon, because Reardon wasn't one of the dirty money boys. As far as Nixon goes, he was given up by Bush 41, who was the ultimate "fixer", and of whom Nixon said on tape "ask George, he'll do anything". Unfortunately for Nixon, he wasn't in charge.
