>>Efforts to preserve the Hawaiian language began statewide in the early 1980s. The language nearly became extinct when the United States banned schools from teaching students in Hawaiian after annexing the then-independent country in 1898.

<<On the other hand there is Victor, who .... He thinks we should just invade and to hell with what anybody thinks about it. >>

That's pretty much what we did in Afghanistan, and so far, despite the "another Vietnam" crowd's shrill protests, it has gone swimmingly!

Remember all the scary predictions by the media about the deep dark caves and the extreme Aghanistan winters and this superman bin Laden?

Iraq is quite different in many ways. We have many Iraqi exiles who are all quite willing to help with funneling intelligence out for the invasion effort. I doubt we know the tip of the iceberg of how much groundwork is being laid right now in the event we do attack. Ironically we know a lot more about Iraq than we did Afghanistan.

An interim replacement govt is likely already being discussed, as are procedures for invetorying and destroying the outlawed weapons he has.
