" you are using inflammatory language about jla's position, and, since jla has not suggested anything but the dispossession of tyrants and promotion of democracy according to American norms,"

Wrong....what jla proposed amounts to imperialism which he defended if it was for the purpose of spreading democracy. I maintain that this is what Japan and Hitler embarked on in WWII and still think so. Nowhere does this equate democracy with Naziism and it is a distortion to say so. I do not recall our ever forcing democracy on anyone except those nations we had defeated as a result of their imperialistic actions, eg Japan and Germany. Clinton's actions in Kosovo were honorable and I am sorry he didn't do the same in Rwanda. Bush Sr's proudest moment, imo, was coming to the defense of Kuwait. I remind you, however, that none of these actions constitute imperialism.
