Wall Street Journal: H-P loses share but still leads PC-server market

Sep 3, 2002, (Wall Street Journal /FT Information via COMTEX) -- IDC, an industry research firm, reports that Hewlett-Packard Co.'s share of the personal-computer server market declined to 32.8% during the second quarter. Last year, when H-P and Compaq Computer Corp. were still separate companies, their combined market share during the quarter was 37.4%. Despite the fall, H-P still has a substantial lead over Dell Computer Corp., which commands 21.5% of the market.
