Yes, there is still a subterranean problem that is masked by smug Anti- Americanism. For example, it is almost impossible for a Turk to become a German citizen, even if he has lived there all his life, or been born there, but a Russian of German descent is automatically welcome. Although France is better about allowing naturalization, it is still fretful, and has begun a program rewarding those of French blood who have more than a couple of children. (Also, Le Pen got 17% of the first round presidential vote).
