I agree with the original intent but I guess it has gotten out of hand in some areas. What do you think of these memorials of flowers, cards ...that appear as soon as a tragedy occurs? I don't know if that started with Elvis?...or Princess Diana...but somewhere that got out of hand. I was appalled a week or so ago when the news showed all the flowers etc. that had appeared around the home in Oregon where those girls' bodies where discovered. There were so many young mothers with their little children hanging out in that maudlin place. Just doesn't seem the place to bring your kids, IMO.
