I have owned and carried intermittently for years. The circumstances of my work often required me to carry large sums (sometimes significant amounts of cash) of client funds from closings, auctions, and occasionally when working for the Feds I had to live with various kinds of threats, etc... But, I had extensive firearms training and coming from a family where guns were not taboo I know how to handle them. I do not think it is a good idea to own a gun without having the knowledge of how to use it. Moreover, I think if you are actually going to carry it on your person, you have to ask yourself if you are really prepared to use it. You might be better off without a gun in a holdup or other violent crime rather than have yours taken from you.
