And why the hell are you defending GM?

Why did I defend Clinton when on this thread he was accused of raping Monica Lewinsky. I'm a bigger fan of GM then of Clinton even though I don't care a ton about either. I am just sticking up for accuracy rather then wild flights of fancy.

If you believe in accuracy, then you need to go back and read the arguments presented rather than interpret them to satisfy your bias. The links that both you and I provided clearly state that streetcars had bad economics because cities kept their fares unreasonably restricted. With some cities, GM came in early to buy the streetcars and dismember the systems, with others they did it later. That does not change the fact that their intent was to kill of the street car system so that they could sell more cars and buses.

As for your notion of finding the higher good or truth, if that were the case why are you so ready to place your faith in some crackpot's letter to the editor rather than official reports. The topic has been well researched and whether you choose to believe it or not, GM bought our streetcar systems with malicious intent and had them dissected. Its was one of the reasons they were taken to court.

you do not stand to gain from GM
screwing us..........so why do you care?

I stand to lose by decisions being made based on inaccurate information and conspiracy theories. I also stand to lose by the thought that companies are so out to screw us that its good if the government screws them first, or by any significant move to more regulation.

It has been well documented throughout history how American corps. have screwed the American public. I find it intriguing how you try to find holes in those reports instead of researching further how Amer. corps are screwing you today.
