Maybe. My mother also had clear plastic slip covers on the sofa. Just for a while, though. She got a lot of grief over them.

My mother is now in a mausoleum vault where they don't allow fresh flowers. I got my father started on silk rather than plastic. I haven't been there for a few years. I sure hope he hasn't done any backsliding into tacky. Although, perhaps, my mother wouldn't mind. Or notice.
