More than a few US nationals crossed the border north in 1939-40, claimed to be canadian by a variety of ruses, and joined the RCAF ... RAF also ... other branches of the forces as well, but less so, there were some in the RCN i know ..... this was illegal by US law, but overlooked under the circumstances, and when the US joined in whole squadrons of experienced fliers were transferred over, many became instructors highly valuable to the USAF

This was well remembered, and mentioned in favour of the individual US citizen, when young men came north in the sixties, having declined to join the slaughter in Indochina despite the orders of their reigning regime du jour, so they were welcomed, and many are still here

The problem is one of principle and of precedent, i'm sure you'll see it when you imagine yourself in our shoes ... good to see you here Karen, enjoy your posts always .... got to go now though, cheers

Yeah. You really would think that if NORMAL Canadians viewed the US as the prime threat to their security, relations between the two countries would be a whole lot worse. And Canada's alliances would be with China, Russia, Libya, Iraq, ....

But not the US.

This boy wants to start a war over fence posts, ferchrissakes!
