"waiting for european help is pointless" we once had their support. Of course we can go alone -- we can do pretty much whatever we want, the only issue is the price we will pay. It is a hard price to calculate, no matter who you believe in terms of the initial conflict. You will be hard pressed to find anybody with a brain that is not concerned about the implications of going in alone. It does not mean we shouldn't, but we have some pretty pathetic political leaders in the White House if this is all the support they can muster. Somebody is going to pay for their shortcomings.
